All Administrative Volunteers (updated 2/21/08)

-New Troop Numbers for all Troops
In preparation for the Girl Scout realignment, all troops in Girl Scouts of Milwaukee Area, Inc. have been assigned troops numbers in either the 1000 or the 3000 series. Here is the link to the list of numbers. Please start using your new troop numbers August 18, 2007 for Fall Registration and for workshop registration. It would be best if troops would wait to change their checking accounts until the realignment with the other Southeastern Wisconsin councils is complete. Troops can wait until their bridging year to change the number on their uniforms, but must use the new numbers on forms and paperwork. Click here for a copy of the letter mailed to all 01 and 02 Troop Leaders.

-Area Coordinators - Work with your membership staff to recruit School/Site Coordinators where none are in place. Remind school/site coordinators that when troop leaders are looking at doing additional fundraisers (other then the fall product sale – nuts, and the cookie sale program) they need to fill out a form and submit to the council for approval. Forms also need to be submitted when a troop is planning to take a trip on a non-owned council site. CD’s of the council’s forms were made for Area Coordinators. If you did not get a CD touch base with your membership staff. Forms can also be downloaded on this web site or picked up in the Resource Center.

School/Site Coordinators – If you have grades where there are no troops, now is a good time to send flyers home with the girls and try again to recruit interested adults. Be sure to work with leaders who have less than 10 girls in their troops to make sure all the girls in the grade served have been invited to join. Remind the leaders at your school or site if they are planning additional fundraisers (other then the fall product sale – nuts, and the cookie sale program) they need to fill out a form and submit to the council for approval. Forms also need to be submitted when a troop is planning to take a trip on a non-owned council site. CD’s of the council’s forms were made for School/Site Coordinators. If you did not get a CD touch base with your membership staff. Forms can also be downloaded on this web site or picked up in the Resource Center.

Just a recap of what to convey in your training classes

-Confirm that every 01/02 has a Volunteer Service Application filed with us (if not, be sure to give them one.

-Make sure that they have completed Orientation before age-level (if not give them the Orientation Equivalency format.

-Have all attendees know who their staff person is before leaving. There have been recent employee and area changes.

-Remember that most adults prefer visual learning, so be sure to put out display boards, books, etc…

-For a simple Needs Assessment, be sure to ask them what their ‘Burning Question’ is and assure them that they will have the/some answer by close of training.

-Be sure to display and discuss (briefly) the Product Sales, referring any questions to Wendy Dahl, Mgr. Prod. Sales, ext 1265.

-For camping questions, please refer to Leslie Cripe, the ACC Program Manager.

-Don’t forget to sign off on Leader training cards and Frequent Buyer cards

-Give out Girl Scout cookies as a mid-training treat. Enjoy!
