Camp Silverbrook Day Camp 2008 - Milwaukee Service Center
| Dear Parents, We are making a difference in girls’ lives at Silverbrook Program Center. Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast summer camp activities offer a special place for laughter, fun, and personal growth. Through small group interactions, girls have the opportunity to learn more about themselves and others as well as enhance their confidence in new things. Queridos Padres de Familia, Nosotras estamos logrando una diferencia en las vidas de las niñas en el Centro de Programa de Silverbrook. Los programas de campamento de verano de las Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast ofrecen un lugar especial para risas, diversión y desarroll o personal. What’s your game? Spend your days playing with new friends in the
water …
Marco Polo and Message in a Bottle; on the land…soccer, kickball, jump
rope, parachute games; and in the sand…volleyball, treasure
hunt, and more. Don’t forget to take time for crafts, swimming,
and boating!
Nuts
about Nature, Session 2: June 23-27
From turtles to trees, mammals to moss, we’ll discover the big part
plants and animals play in our everyday life. Seed art, nature hunts,
and water snoopers are just some of the things you’ll do along
with swimming, boating, and crafts.

Summer is more than just fun in the sun…it’s fun in water! Get
wet in the water as you swim, play water games, and paddle on the lake.
Take some time to dry off as you make crafts, play games, and explore
nature.
Creation
Station,
Session 4: July 7-11
Let your creativity flow. You’ll spend lots of time making arts and
crafts this week. Making a candle, picture frame, lanyard, and tie-dye
are just some of the things you can do.We’ll also have time
for swimming, boating, and exploring camp.
Outdoor
Adventures,
Session 5: July 14-18
Is the great outdoors calling you? Practice your outdoor skills. Building
a campfire, tying basic knots, and using a compass or a GPS are just
a few things you could do. You’ll play camping games, take a
hike, and still have time for crafts and swimming.
Flower
Power,
Session 6: July 21-25
Come and smell the flowers of Camp Silverbrook. Take a nature hike, have
a cookout, and make your own flower print and natural picture frame,
and decorate a shirt using natural dyes. Of course there will be time for games, swimming, boating, and more!
Splashers,
Session 7: July 28-August 1
Swim, splash, and
paddle your way in, across, and under the ripples of
Lucas Lake. Play water games, learn and practice small craft skills, and
explore the habitats of our underwater friends. There will also be time
on
land for crafts, games, and more.
Art
Attack,
Session 8: August 4-7
Paint, sculpt, and draw while having fun with your friends. You decide which
exciting art forms you want to try. Sharpen your artistic skills and learn
new ones as you create a portfolio and showcase your works of art.
Camper's
Choice, Session 9: August 11-13 for girls entering grades 2-12

What’s your favorite thing to do at camp? Crafts, nature, games,
cooking, swimming, boating…there’s so much to choose
from! You’ll
get to plan your time at camp by choosing different Girl’s
Choice activities everyday.
Overnight
Opportunity:
for girls entering grades 2-8
Spend
a night at camp in the Lodge with camp staff. Enjoy time under
the stars, eating a dinner with your new camp friends, and more.
Brownies (girls entering grades 2-3) -Tuesday night
Junior (girls entering grades 4-6)-Wednesday night
Teens (girls entering grades 7-8)-Thursday night
Extra overnight cost: $30.
Teen
Time, Session 9: August 13-14, overnight session
Finish your summer with a party at camp. Camp is all yours
for these two days and the night. There will be time for
kayaking, swimming, cooking, crafts, and more.
NOTE: Program Fee for this session: $71

Leadership Skills Institute
Junior
Counselor In Training (JCIT)
Explore individual leadership styles, learn about the needs of children
at camp, and become skilled at facilitating games, songs, sports, and
outdoor skills with younger campers. Spend some time working with younger campers.
Your two weeks will combine both junior counselor training and fun camp
activities. Join the JCs for an overnight on Monday during your first
week at camp. After completing your two weeks, you’ll receive a
JC T-shirt.

Junior
Counselor (JC)
Discover more about your style of leadership. Explore the basics of developing
and delivering camp activities. Practice your leadership and program skills
while working with younger campers. Join fellow JCs for an overnight on
Monday. Teens can be JCs for up to four weeks.
*Please note: JCs receive one T-shirt per summer – not per session.
Who: Teens ages 14-16
Fee: $67 per week
of attendance.

Teen
Intern
Become camp staff and assist in many areas of camp. This is a paid position.
Those interested must attend staff training and at least three weeks
of summer sessions. Teen interns must have been a Junior Counselor

Babysitter-In-Training
Earn your American Red Cross Babysitter Certification, while enjoying
camp life. You’ll learn diapering, feeding, making good choices from
emergencies to snacks and toys, and interview skills. You’ll also
have plenty of time for swimming, boating, crafts, and more.

X-Treme
Teen:
X-Treme
Teen is all about lots of adventure, leadership, and teamwork. You’ll
start the week with team building, a low ropes challenge course,
and preparation for your trip. Spend Thursday and Friday on your
adventure trip with an overnight on Thursday.
Bikers will
bike a loop on the John Muir Trail and spend the night at Camp Alice
Chester.
Spelunkers (caving) will explore the caves at Ledgeview
Nature Center and later return to Camp Silverbrook where you’ll
search for the perfect campsite.
Hikers will hike sections of the Northern Kettle Moraine
State Forest and spend the night at one of our favorite campsites.
Kayakers will paddle their way down a river and spend the
night under the stars in one of our favorite campsites.
