  1. What does the Resource Center have to offer?
    The Resource Center consists of a retail shop, historical collection, library and a variety of equipment and materials for check out.
  2. Where is the Resource Center located?
    The Resource Center is located in the Marion Chester Read Center on the northern frontage road to I-94 at 131 South 69th Street, Milwaukee. Take 68th/70th Street exit and head north.
  3. How do I check out books and tapes from the library?
    You must be a registered leader (01) or co-leader (02). You will initially need to complete a pink Resource Center User card that provides us with your name, address, e-mail, phone number and an agreement to follow the check out policies. A staff member to complete the check out process whenever you come in. Items are checked out for 2 weeks with a limit of 5 items to be checked out at a time.
  4. What equipment is available for checkout?

  5. How do I check out equipment and Quick Picks?
    Equipment and Quick Picks can be very popular at varying times of the year. Therefore it is advisable to place reservations as soon as you know your date either by phone or while visiting the Resource Center. These items are checked out for up to 5 day (excludes Sundays). A limit of two equipment/quick picks can be checked out at a time. Overdue fees are $1.00 per day per item.
  6. What are Quick Picks?
    Quick Picks are projects in boxes that a leader can use to conduct a troop meeting or complete a badge or try-it. Quick Picks are available for various levels of Girl Scouts.
    Examples include:
    Fun Just for Daisies (Daisy) Shadow Play (Daisy/Brownie)
    Girl Scouting in USA (Junior) I Dig Geology (Daisy/Brownie/Junior)
    Money Sense (Junior) Women (Brownie/Junior/Cadette/Senior)

  7. What type of payment methods does the Resource Center accept?
    The Resource Center accepts cash, checks (personal and troop’s), Master Card, Visa, and Discover.
  8. What is the return policy?
    Generally, store credit is issued for all returns. Please, feel free to exchange items. On a case by case situation checks may be issued and take 2-3 weeks to be received by mail

  9. Does the Resource Center sell used Girl Scout Items?
    No, the Resource Center does not sell used items. Please, check local second hand stores for these items or consider contacting other troops.
  10. What is the Historical Collection and how can I use it?
    GSMA has a historical collection dating back to the 1920’s. Prominent in the collection are past girl and adult uniforms, of which some are available for check-out. Also included are past troop scrapbooks, handbooks, badges, patches, pins and many other items. To check out material or view items, an appointment needs to be made through the Resource Center. Please, inquire about the rental fee and deposit.
  11. Does the Resource Center accept donations of items?

  12. The Resource Center can always use current Girl Scout handbooks for the various levels of scouts for library check out. Generally, used uniforms are not resold by GSMA and therefore are recommended for second hand clothing stores. Historical items are greatly appreciated. When dropping off historical items, please, be sure to complete a "Gift Agreement" form.
  13. Does the Resource Center need volunteers?
    YES! The Resource Center continues to seek volunteers to help with various tasks relating to our merchandise, library, equipment, historical collection and seasonal registration. If you are interested as an individual or as a troop, please, call us at 476-1050 extension x1271. Your time is greatly appreciated!
