Pathfinder Program Descriptions - Daisy Girl Scout Level
NOTE: The location
information for programs within Milwaukee County are not listed for
security and safety reasons. Check the current Pathfinder issue for more details.
To
register, complete the registration
form and
submit with full payment to the Marion Chester Read Center. See
individual event listings for special instructions. Confirmations
will be sent to those troops selected. Troops not selected will
be issued a full refund.
All-Council Bridging Ceremony
Your troop and parents are invited to take part in a
Girl Scout tradition with girls from across the
council. Join us at the Alice Chester Center for the
second annual all-council bridging ceremony, lunch
and bridging program. During the bridging program,
Bridging Brownies will earn a Try-It and bridging Juniors
will earn a Badge and the parents will participate in a
program for Girl Scout families.
Who: Bridging Daisies and Bridging Brownies
When: May 17, 2008
Where: Alice Chester Center
Cost: $3.00/girl $2.00/parent (includes lunch,
program supplies and patch)
Capacity: 400 people, First come, first served.
Registration: Registration form will be available in early
2008. Form due by April 18, 2008.
Best of Friends
Why? In a study conducted by GSUSA, teen girls reported
that their feelings of safety revolved around the presence
and support of their peers and the adults in their lives.
This program is for girls of all ages and their mom, grandmother
or other female adult role model to have fun in the outdoors.
Swim, create crafts, play games and relax together at camp.
Fees include meals, snacks, lodging and supplies.
Who: All girls and their special female adult. This is a troop
and non-troop event. It is important for every girl to have an
adult female with her for that special bonding time. One adult
with her two girls is welcome.
When: Summer dates will be listed in our summer program book
and on our website starting in February.
Where: Alice Chester Center
Cost: Cost varies whether you pick the day,
1-night or 2-night option. Please see summer program book or

Daisies
Blast into Brownies #149
Introduce your Daisy Girl Scouts to camp! Learn a new song, make
a craft, enjoy nature and create a memory at Silverbrook Program
Center. You are invited to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy
at Lucas Lake. This event completes Bridging activity #3,
and girls earn their first Brownie Try-It.

Easter
Egg Hunt #150
Join the Youth Leadership Council for an egg-cellent time! Teen
Girl Scouts will host the annual GSMA Easter Egg Hunt, full
of fun for Daisies and Brownies. Girls can look forward to
arts & crafts, games, prizes and, of course, candy!

Fall Harvest Fest
Kick off the new year with your troop or family! View the splendors
of fall from Alice Chester Center’s stairway to the stars
for a breathtaking lake view. Rock
climb, roast marshmallows, play games and celebrate autumn.
Who: All age levels and their troop and/or families (boys, dad,
girls of all ages are all welcome)
When: Sun., Sept. 23, 2007 1-5 p.m.
Where: Alice Chester Center
Cost: $5 per child 5 years old and older.
$3 for adults. Free for kids 4 and under; includes supplies and
snacks.
Capacity: Open. No pets please.

Family Day Escape
Escape for the day as a family to the tranquil surroundings of
Silverbrook Program Center. Spend some quality time picnicking,
boating, and hiking. Before you return to the city, don’t
forget to relax around the campfire while enjoying a tasty
s’more.
Who: Girl Scouts of all ages, troops, and/or their families
When: Sat., Sept. 8, 2007 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Cost: $5 per carload

Just
You & Me
Why? In a 2000 GSUSA study, 36% of girls indicated that
they would seek advice from their father.
This program is for girls of all ages and their dad, grandpa,
uncle or other male adult role model to have fun in the
outdoors. Swim, craft, boat, hike, do archery, play games,
and relax together at camp. Fees include meals, snacks,
lodging and supplies.
Who:
All girls and their special male adult. It is
important for every girl to have an adult
male with her for this special program.
One adult with siblings is welcome.

February.

Open House at Alice Chester Center
You and your family are invited to get a taste of camp at Alice
Chester Center. Located on Booth Lake in the beautiful southern
Kettle Moraine area, where you can come for a summer overnight
camp program. Meet staff and have the opportunity
to ask questions. Discover our lodge, sports field, waterfront,
nature center, arts and crafts center and living units. Make
a craft to celebrate spring, participate in camp activities,
make s’mores and have FUN! Come out, it will be a blast!

House at Silverbrook Program Center
Enjoy a day on Lucas Lake with your family and explore all
our camp has to offer. Walking tours, crafts, s’mores and the
Trading Post are just a few options. A great opportunity to sample
camp and meet the staff!

A
Year with Frog and Toad-Workshop
and Performance
This Tony-nominated Broadway musical brings to life the
adventures of Arnold Lobel’s well-loved characters: the
boundlessly happy Frog and his worry-wart friend Toad.
Despite their differences, they share a season of gardening,
swimming, kite-flying tobogganing and other adventures.
Along with their forest friends and jazzy, upbeat music, they
bring home the values of trust, loyalty and warm cookies.

Campin In:Come earn your Creative Composing Try-it
the Betty Brinn Children's Museum! Girl Scout troops and
chaperones will enjoy a fun-filled evening of activities,
including painting a work of art, creating a song, decoding
secret messages, and more! The girls will have the chance
to play in the Museum's interactive educational exhibits
and camp overnight in the Museum.
Mentor and me: Same great activities, but each girl brings
an adult to share in the fun. This option is recommended
for troops with girls ages 7 and younger, but is open to
everyone.

Explore emotions, music, acting, and movement in an
upbeat, creative, and energetic workshop designed for the
young Daisy Girl Scout.

Day Trip Program
Girl Scouts will see, hear, taste, touch and smell their way
to earning a Senses Try-it. The girls will work together
to conduct experiments using their senses, a tongue-mapping
taste test, sound and texture games and a blindfolded tag-team
obstacle course. They will also use all of their senses
to create a special ice cream treat-they choose the flavor!
Then, it's off to explore the Museum's exhibits
for private
play time, including the Our Five Senses exhibit features in
My Body Works, an area where children learn about
human anatomy and how to stay healthy.

Girl Scouts catch the excitement of the world's
most popular sport. Join Milwaukee's professional indoor
soccer team for a
once-in-a-lifetime GIRL SCOUT ONLY pregame clinic with
the team coaches and an exciting game! Girl Scouts who
attend will also be involved in on-field introductions.

W.E.S.T. Family Science Day
Come and join us to explore the structures and beauty of
spring flower bulbs, learn about science and inflate a lung!
Guests 13 and older will also have the opportunity to tour
the Jones Island waste water treatment plant (must wear closed
toe shoes). Educators from Discovery World, Milwaukee Public
Museum, Wisconsin Humane Society, Camp Discovery and many
others will lead hands-on activities for the whole family.
Science will be used to explore the world around us in a
fun and engaging way. Coordinated through the Wisconsin Elementary
and Middle Level Science Teachers.

Youth Class-Adventure Rock
This class with the experts at Adventure Rock will instruct girls
on the proper way to wear a harness and basic climbing techniques.
Chaperones will be taught proper belay technique on their “clip ‘n
go” stations for a group/team oriented program. Chaperones
are also encouraged to try their hand (and feet) at rock climbing.
Always to accommodate, Adventure Rock will host your troop
if the sessions listed below do not fit your schedule. Call
