Resource Center/Council Shop

The Milwaukee Service Center operates a Resource Center: a large retail Girl Scout and an up-to-date library to assist volunteers in the delivery of Girl Scout programming to girls and adults. The Resource Center is located in the Marion Chester Read Center,131 S. 69th Street.

Resource Center consultants, who are dedicated to giving you outstanding customer service, are available to answer questions about programs, recognitions, and to help in the selection of developmentally appropriate resources and merchandise. You may come in to teh shop or e-mail the Resource Center at shop@gswise.org . A consultant will respond to inquiries by the end of business the following day.

For your shopping convenience, the Resource Center has an order system for purchasing of insignias. You may place e-mail orders on the website or call in orders to 414-476-1050, ext. 1236 during regular business hours. Orders may be picked up at 131 S. 69th St. or will be mailed upon request with additional shipping charge. Current Resource Center hours can be found below.

Our Historical Collection: The Milwaukee Service Center has a unique collection of historical memorabilia dating back to the early 1920’s. We have many historical girl and adult uniforms, many of which are available for check-out at a cost of $2 per uniform and a returnable deposit of $25. Also available are past troop scrapbooks, handbooks, badges, patches, pins and many other items. To check out materials or view items, appointments are necessary. The Historical Committee is making a timeline of interesting and important events in this council. We have been busy reading back copies of HowAbouts, council newsletters, and reports from the 1970s. Here is some interesting background about our council offices: Our first office, in the Mayer building, was opened in 1921 and the office contained a used desk, four borrowed chairs, a telephone, a map, a mirror, a Girl Scout chart, and an American flag. Next, the office moved to Mayfair Mall (above the ice skating rink) in 1973. Do you know when we moved to the Marion Chester Read Center? Look for the plaque as you come in the council door to find the answer! Behind the plaque, there is a time capsule. Friday: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
Saturday: 8:30 am – noon

Shipping Service
All available orders may be picked up at the Marion Chester Read Center. All mail orders will have a shipping fee applied. The fee is located on the shop order form.

Order by E-mail
For email orders, you may e-mail the Resource Center at shop@gswise.org . Please include a daytime phone number for credit card payment information and catalog description number.

Order by Mail
Mail orders can be sent to PO Box 14999, Milwaukee, WI 53214-0999. Master Card, Visa, Discover Card and checks are accepted. Please use the downloadable shop order form and include the catalog description number.

Order by Phone
All phone orders can be placed by calling the Resource Center in the Marion Chester Read Center at (414) 476-1050, ext. 1236.

Gift Certificates
Surprise that deserving Girl Scout, leader or volunteer with a Girl Scout gift certificate. They are available in any amount and can be used for Resource Center merchandise and Girl Scout Camp. Purchase the certificates at the Resource Center.

Volunteer for the Resource Center
The Resource Center continues to seek volunteers to help with various tasks relating to our merchandise, library, equipment, historical collection and seasonal registration.
