Troop Camping - A Guide to Adventures and Outings
Come for a day, a night, stay all weekend, or even longer! Girls love the fun and adventure of planning, preparing and carrying out a trip away from home. With adult guidance, girls can experience a new environment, gain skills in organization, cooperation and budgeting, deepen their sense of independence and accomplishment and HAVE FUN!!
Girl Scouts of Milwaukee Area’s properties offer a wide variety of facilities for your Troop Camp Outing. Troops can stay in Milwaukee or go out to one of our properties located about 45 minutes from the city. In addition, there are plenty of facilities around the city, state and country which troops can choose to use. Investigate! Find what suits your troop’s/group’s wants, needs and budget.

Day Usage and Fees for ACC & SB
Girl Scouts of Milwaukee Area, Inc.’s camp properties may be used by troops and groups for day trips as well as weekends. All sites are less than an hour from Milwaukee.
Why not come out for a picnic? Take a hike? Work on a badge? Get away for a day during the week, during school vacation, or on weekends. Fees are very reasonable.
Day fees: $15.00 per troop for day use – no heated buildings. ½ of one night’s fee of building per troop for heated buildings (9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.).
Equipment Available for Troop Trips
Limited numbers of major camping items are available at a small rental fee from the Resource Center. Troops will be required to replace lost or damaged equipment due to negligence. Call 414-476-1050, preferably 6 weeks in advance, to make reservations. Equipment is rented “per outing.” Outings are one week or less in duration. Equipment must be paid for at pick up. You are responsible for drying all canvas and cleaning all equipment before returning it.
Silverbrook Summer Program offers full and partial outfitting, staff led “Trip Equip” packets.

Eureka Timberline: Sleeps 2-3 adults or 3-4 girls. Floor and screening. $5.00 per night. 4 tent limit.
Canoes
and trailer: Reserve through Dennis Block. Available for pick up at Camp Silverbrook
and Camp Will-O-Rill. Six 17' Grumann aluminum canoes, and paddles. Must show
lifeguard certification at time of rental. $40.00 per canoeing day. You must
rent at least 4 canoes in order to reserve trailer.
Canoes and boats: Available for rent at Silverbrook or Alice Chester Camps. Rental fee of $20.00 is payable at the camps.
Our Sister Council, Great Blue Heron in Waukesha also owns and operates two nearby camp facilities – Chinook Program Center in Waukesha, WI and Camp Winding River, near Hustisford, WI (10 minutes west of Hartford).
